01/04/2009(!!!)
hello again.
happy new year.
thanks to all of those that looked at our site over the holidays and even downloaded an album. it means a lot to us that you would take a look when you are off of work spending time with family and friends. thanks again.
in music news, i am continuing work on my solo, song based lp. i think everyone will like it when its done, however it may still be a while until its out. i hope we have no breath holders. in the mean time we have many goodies available for you to possibly in the near future. we have a few things waiting in the wings for when the time is right. over break, i listened to some of our older material, like andras and fiveguitars. it was interesting to relisten to those things after not for probably about a year. its always affirming to look back at what you have done to see how you have grown, kind of like looking back at art of yours from the 3rd grade (as what andras was kind of meant to sound like, actually, it was blind children...)). its not for everyone and it may of been a bit cathartic to release it, but we were new to theoretical work and its neat to go back and give it a new listen with what i know now. seeing that we are in a new year, its time to change tack a bit. im sure you will know what im talking about when it shows itself.

things of note in our circle of friends.....

-live appearance: saturday, january 24th.
marquette, michigan with spectral mornings. northstar academy. click

-the release of spectral mornings single, spring rain. a neat song off of their upcoming album, which i had the opportunity to record some drums on.
-tokyo morose was reviewed in vital weekly, a dutch webzine. click here to read the positive review.
-the upcoming release of the totally amazing e.p of centre. more about that later.
-d.j. gig for chuck sipperely (the other guy behind 'wavelength') and tadd mulinix at the elks lodge on jan. 10th. (check out the poster i made for it below) or click for more info. if i can get my shite together there will be nice copies of the poster available at the show...
-talk of music videos for new songs for both square root and us. exciting.
-listening to the two brand new miracle baby remixes by cantilever. i cant wait to release these!

well well well.... i see you there, in the corner, drinking egg nog a bit quicker than the rest of the family. but you are invisible. hmm, thats an old trick. well, hello anyway.
i hope your holiday season has been going according to plan or close to it. mine was quite good, bestowing upon me a mexican noise maker and a small remote controlled helicopter that has been literally days of fun.

business wise we are hard at work preparing new ditties and new objects for your ears/eyes. you will see. over the little break, i met up with an old friend of both labels, alexander nixon. we recorded a few improvisations and they sound quite good. he also gave me a disc of older material to reconstitute. we will see what comes out of it. in other news, the square root clan is keeping busy with upcoming releases from centre, conifer rock, and perhaps another cantilever thing. im sure you will see some affiliation with andras through some of the upcoming stuff.

that brings me to our most recent release. tokyo morose's specific ocean has broken our "IPO" record by a landslide. we have had downloads all over the world and now are in the triple digits in less than a month. thanks to all of those that have downloaded and shared their thoughts with us. here is a picture of the band at their annual white elephant gift exchange down on lafayette and dunkel st. dont click on the picture. your computer will literally explode. (SPACE)

happy holidays and see you in the new year with new release and new treats for all.

Well, well, yesterday you came out and downloaded a large amount of data. it may have been our largest day yet. People seem to like the record, which is nice to hear. we have also gotten a review from a place called Vital. Excitement all around. Hopefully you all tell your friends about it and pass it on. Its amazing what a minute each could do for all of us. thanks in advance. (new track above too, off of disc 2)

helo. the big day is here. the tokyo morose album has just been released from two points in michigan to the entire world. we are proud of this record. as producer of it i can say it was fun to record them and then attempt to make it sound like 3 14 year olds got a free day at abbey road. does it sound that way to you? its a free download and our largest yet for an album. let me tell you what you get with this car....

1. an album with free high quality production and 7 creative songs from the fiddle/organ masters out west.
2. a collection of 11 songs composited from the original source material, creating ambient loops, distorted singing, trumpet blats, fretless bass action and a stunning remix by the electronics master, cantilever.
3. a promo film. about a minute and a half in length, featuring beautifully cut flowers wilting in the liverpudlian sunlight, with some nice helvetica as the sole star of the film. shot in 100 minute sequences, and each compressed into 4-7 second sections. it looks like an Ambien commercial on acid.
4. 30 photographs documenting the recording process. these are the filters we look through on a daily basis.

so, 18 beautifully encoded 256kbps MP3's, 30 Photographs taken by the band and I, and one film. what are you waiting for? click on one of the pictures below or in the main shorlines side banner. If i were you though, i would attempt to purchase a copy. they look great and sound better. but i understand if thats not economically viable....
most of it was recorded in march, then again in june i believe. it was alot of hard work and driving on my end, but overall the band created the songs and gave me the material to mold. I have to personally thank daniel streeting of square root and obviously the band for making the music and taking a chance on trusting an outsider. hopefully they are happy with the overall product. its amazing to me as this is the 19th release on andras. we will ride this one for a month or so and then we will be on to something new. you will see, we have some surprises in store.
take a careful listen and comment on twitter or whatever you fucking kids do now... see you.

12/10/2008.
i recently read somewhere that during the cold war, both sides developed tactical nuclear weapons that had not just one warhead internally, but 10. each warhead had the power of 25 "littleboys" (the bomb dropped on hiroshima in 1945). from my limited understanding the procedure would go as follows... the alert would be sounded, within in 5 minutes, launch authorization would be give by appointed people, and within 3 minutes the rocket would be launched. when it reached the earth suborbit (-70 miles), it would then open up and disperse the warheads into space. from there, the individual warheads would then rocket into the low atmosphere and sight in on their designated targets from a serious height superiority. they called them re-entry vehicles. however, that title seems to be thrown around. after re-entering, after sighting, they then autonomously guide into position using solid propellant that can space each warhead out by about 70 miles. they are now traveling so fast that nothing can stop them. no phone calls from foreign leaders, no screaming babies/dogs. nothing. in fact, during space flights they consider this time the "death time" because the static electricity is built up so densely around the object that radio frequencies cant escape it. there is nothing to do other than wait. at around 3000 feet, the warheads detonate. 3000 feet was chosen carefully by atomic scientists in the 50's, as it creates the largest potential mass of air pressure and lowers the amount of sustained radiation. above that it literally is too powerful to create sustained damage below and lower than that releases unmitigated amounts of radiation. this is curious to me as the scientists were able to look past the trivialities of the current; bringing them to this bombing, and look into the future to somewhat safeguard the future generations of this area from inordinate amounts of radiation. i would liken it to a child stroking a pet, throttling it momentarily, then proceed to pet it again. perhaps this was also done to leave no crater, which i assume would be a headache for any postwar, modernist architect. however, i digress.
at the point of impact (the aforementioned 3000 feet) the common noise would be dwarfed and the common sight would be evaporated by a beam of pure white energy. then life would start to decay under amazing values of heat and pressure. after the initial blast of boiling air, burning bricks and molten ground, the environment would be soiled by radiation for a number of weeks. these weeks however are enough to create genetic malfunctions in generations to come.
we created 110 of these rockets. we called them peacekeepers.

helo.
i have been quite busy as of late, getting my stuff together for new songs, projects, pieces, etc.etc.etc,bleh. i took the new song down as it was downloaded over 170 times, so it has done its damage. look for it on one of the next releases, in coming months. on november 22nd, next saturday there is the release of tokyo morose' specific ocean 2cd album. it should be noted that this is a andras/squareroot split release a019/sqr014... a020 is the next release....wowzers... that next tuesday you will see it here, ready for download. its a fun record. i have a feeling that you will enjoy it. dan streeting, of spectral mornings fame videotaped much of the happenings while recording. maybe we can get him to put together a document of the "drama"...

over the weekend i learned a new way to write. it involves letting go of your spirit and letting your muscles move on their own. hmm. look what happened....(below)
anyway, i will be playing at this homeshow thing happening on saturday. i am trying to make sure that everyone will have the necessary party hats so they are excluded. oh well.
do you have an alergy to zebrawood?

hello to those in sweden and in the uk. thanks for looking.

recently i went over to grand rapids and helped the boys in spectral mornings record some drum tracks. i documented a bit of it here. click here to see the short film. erm. very short. i utilized a new technology called "image stabilization", where the computer looks at every frame and moves, zooms, and pans each frame to line up with the last. some of it looks really odd due to that. intended...
see you. clickbelow...

November 4th. 2008.
I have never been more proud of my country.
For the past four years, I have been totally ashamed of my nations decision to stick with the current course of unabashed imperialist, vapid culture. I never have been able to understand how someone could lie to the entire planet with such devastating consequences and not be thrown out on his ass. I must admit, I gave up on this country many times in my life.
Now, I sit watching my candidate, our candidate, Barack Obama, make his acceptance speech about how amazing all of this is. In fifty short years we went from black and white bathrooms to a President Elect that has roots in Kenya. How amazing indeed. Even though the pigment in our skin is usually the thing that has divided us, it has divided us too much to call our country civilized. Until now. As John Kerry said, "Tonight, new dreams are born."
If you are an American, pat yourself on the back. We did it. We fought those bastards and won. We took the whole pot. We won. I have never been more proud of where I live.
Now listen to this new song. I cant think of a better time to post this up. Enjoy.

hello all
just wanted to send out a much needed update to our little universe.
well, im working on some very special material. some very very old, some very new. when i say old, i mean, "this is the first song i ever wrote" old. kind of neat to revisit things like that. square root and us have lots of stuff coming through the pipe in coming weeks/months. internally, its exciting to see all of this stuff happening. the excitement overrides the annoyance at not making money at any of this. what else is going on? well, brian eno released a neat generative music platform for a new revolutionary device......maybe we will do something with that.......

see you...

09/14/2008.
Good afternoon, everyone.
Guest Andras spokesman Trevor Edmonds here with some news from the Alowishus front. Sean and I have spent the last 1 and a half days recording yet another Miracle Baby release. It is entitled Cartesian Kirlian and it will be here this Tuesday, the 16th. "Didn't they just release a single?!?" you ask yourself, as you toss your Sally Forth comic compendium to the floor. Yes, we did. However, when you are privy to the good fortune of having bananas replaced with strawberries in what was originally intended to be banana & Nutella crepes and having the whipped cream for said crepes replaced with vanilla ice cream, all seems right with the world and things happen. Cartesian Kirlian is, by comparison to last week's Thornapple Honeycomb, an extended affair, resting somewhere between EP and LP length. Perhaps more akin to our eponymous first outing, which was released this past March. Check back Tuesday for sonic gold.
