Hott Lava.
So, hello.
this upcoming friday night will be the ultimate cinema even in the world. yeah i said it. hott lava, created by erin bratkovich and forest juziuk will be having its formal debut at the state theatre friday night, starting at 11:30. they have been kind enough to allow me to assist in the venture, creating the print and showing flight. it should be amazing to see these ebbs and flows of inky madness on the bigscreen. i saw a few of the films last night, and let me tell you, get ready for some serious, frenetic filmmaking. two words: "so dope". if you go, youll know... erin and forest have really put their hearts into this. we are lucky to have them in our city. people like them, that act on their crazy/amazing/ambitious ideas make a place worth living in.
if you are in town, you shouldnt hesitate. go!!! get tickets now.
(at wazoo and the state theatre). i think they are going to go fast. should be a beautiful night. 10 dollars in advance, 13 at the door. cash bar and signed/numbered prints in the lobby. click anywhere for more info.

So we cleaned up the site a bit today. added a new track and gave you a nice gradient to look at. take care of it, im only buying you one.
here is this too. the print forest asked me to make for hott lava.
click to make it larger. should be a fun event. there should be copies of this available for snatching. you should.

exciting news coming up. one thing i can actually talk about is that we will be recording a soundtrack to a feature length film. details to come soon. that is all i can say. very exciting. another very big thing might be happening but i cant say more than that as its still being worked out. another thing that is coming up is that the last andras release, flight, has been chosen to be shown at the "hott lava" film thingy in ann arbor on june 26. very honored to be asked...
keep in touch, kiddos.

06/05/2009.
hello to washington.
hello all. just wanted to show you this. something new.

05/29/2009.
brief update.
we are in the process of moving and doing many things related to andras. lots and lots of things on the horizon. as you can see below, we have made tshirts, which are for sale for 10-12 dollars. im the process of building a hassleblad medium format camera. i also have been commissioned to build one for a dear friend. should be fun.
what else? mixed up the music a bit. an extended mix of le enfants encroyable. trevor said it sounded like danni harrison playing guitar. i guess i dont feel one or the other about it, but its good. tokyo morose is playing at festival next weekend in grand rapids. sunday morning, waking up the town from its conservative, furniture creating slumber. its now nice out and we can all go cycling. lets go.

Yellowcake Remasters.
So, we should be getting the proofs for the Yellowcake Reissue in the next few days.
We are super excited to see them. They will be stunning, indeed. The disc has grown in size as well, the cd is now just under 40 minutes long. The Reissues should run around 6-8 dollars. They will be worth it. Ill be posting photos soon. look below for the 11x17 gatefold image, tying it all together. Dont worry though, we are still making new music over here, we just need something to do between computers crashing....
In other news, we have some serious vinyl news coming shortly. and by shortly i mean months and months and etc......

happy birthday.
last year, on this day, we informally released yellowcake. it was created as a birthday gift to kim and was fun to make. so i would like to announce now that we will start working on reissuing previous albums that we think are worth their salt in the new andras packaging. physical releases! yes, thats right! the artwork will finally be able to be presented in a way which the digital format couldnt. these will try to stick to as true to the originals as possible, the only difference is that they will all have additional musical material on them that we think represents them in todays context. the material might be brand new, remixes or outtakes that didnt make the cut, which contrary to popular belief, there is alot that is cut out.... these will start coming out in probably two months or so. they will be relatively inexpensive to the last release, flight, which was 20 dollars. these will probably be an edition of 20-30, as that number makes sense at the level we are at right now. people dont like to buy physical things these days, who would of figured?!

Flight has been reviewed.
the seminal music review site, textura has posted a very nice review of flight this morning. it is a very nice read and means alot to me that someone understood it and wrote about it.
"Despite the physical association of air travel and the psychological disorientation that accompanies that experience for some, Patrick's music more easily locates itself within inner experience..."
here is the link.
in other news, dan and i are off to california for a week to go record shopping, get messed up by the ms13. hopefully we avoid the latter.
p.s.. take a listen to the new track. hope you like it.

Wolves and that
helo, i had an enjoyable weekend in the south pacific with the sqr gang. it was crystal browns thesis show. it took place in an old factory with tin doors and ceiling weights to open them. it was a moving experience. i walked away quite impressed. crystal was kind enough to allow me to also get in on the action, by wearing one of her pieces during the performance. spectral mornings played well and amazed the rest of the sqr gang with the surplus of quality new material they amassed in a few short weeks. we also sat down saturday morning and had a meeting about how we were going to move forward with release schedules and such. very exciting times at the labels, i cant wait to share more.

Another Year.... L'Enfant Coma....

you wont be sorry. do it for your health.
in other news, work on a new album has begun. the cover has been chosen. we have a few new ideas this time around and will exciting to execute them.

04/20/2009.
pretty amazing urban experience last night.
someones car alarm malfunctioned during a heist or something, exacerbated by torrential rain, blared through the night mist for an hour. at first it sounded like me on a trumpet, it turned into a glenn branca concert. others making sure it wasnt their car by activating wireless remotes, naked, in their warm apartments. the police showed up, started towing the car and then the owner appeared from another car, to unlock it, unplug the battery then try to lock his beloved jeep by hitting the wireless remote. it did nothing. i gues he was expecting different results.
never live in sprawl. you get what you pay for.

p.s. flight is halfway to sold out. get one while you still can.

Sacramento.
Hi all. Im on location in Sacramento, California to snoop around and break peoples eyes and ears. sitting in my room, looking at a homeless man singing the national anthem. i should of recorded it. I bought a few minimal electronic records at a few failing shops yesterday. It seems to me that the music fans of Sacramento arent doing their part. They have some great shops, but no one was in there when i was. sad.
Flight is being downloaded at an alarming regularity. thank you to all of those taking the chance on listening.

BuyLowSellHigh.
Thanks to all of those who have bought "Flight" so far. I dropped off about half of them last night on the west side last night. skinny ties and walking dance squads indeed. i got to dj for a bit too and it turned out quite well i think.
i had 2 decks and a cd player to layer with and that was fun. it ran something like this...

whale noises record...
gollywogs cakewalk : isso tomita
waters of nazareth : justice
w/ world war 2 reports layered over it
electric feel : mgmt
w/ whale noises and world war 2 over it
"the organist..." one of trevs library records.
w/ victory celebration soundtrack
e-musick : neu! (played at half speed)
pull pulk revolving doors : radiohead
samurai : kode9
w/ d-day reports over it
poison dart : the bug and warrior queen
w/ the organist over it
after eight : neu!
17 years : ratatat
with box studio 7 mixed in
owls and flowers : belbury poly
mixed with anton fell, off of the new album.
etcetcetc...

i miss doing things like that. i used to do stuff like that on my old radio show. mix music for films with hip hop instrumentals. people hated and i loved it. total catharsis.
as long as i see asses out on the dancefloor, as the old veterans say...

teaser.
in a few weeks we will be releasing the digital version of flight to the public. however the physical version has been a closely guarded secret. well, not really. anyway, that should be available for purchase (!) the same day. the price right now fifteen dollars. if you are a glutton for punishment, you should pick one up. i wont ask twice. yes i will... there will be a limited edition of only 20 of these though andras. they may be a few in shops, but over all you dont have many opportunities to get one. we may make more later, but dont count on it, this stuff takes time and money....

back from show...

well, a few days ago i got back from the spectral mornings show up state where i was asked to play guitar and document the show. i did and overall the show was fun. it was to benefit the 231 art gallery which provided spectral and i many opportunities to play when we lived up there. however, wankers burned it down and now they are trying to start from scratch, which i believe wont happen unless someone donates some serious money to the cause. hopefully they get it back together, it would only benefit society as a whole.... the boys performed great until 2 guys in ties (chad and i) started skwonking away on guitars and irritated the sound guy. the show itself was pretty bizarre, as spectral was grouped with 3 headbanging' metal bands from the area. curiously, they were also asked to play first after driving 450 miles each way. the show could of benefited from a bit more dynamism from other groups in the area. no offense to those that curated the show, just my opinion on how it could of been better..... i posted pics over at our flickr...

in other news, the flight cd/dvd promo copies are readying postboxes around the world. cant wait to see what people think of it. i am pretty proud of it. i think its grandioseness suits the 20th release type celebration.if you would like to be put on the list for press copies, promos, etc, notify me here....
also, tokyo morose has been nominated for album of the year over at a radio station on the other side of the state. you should vote for it here. you only have a few days left, go for it.
until then....

well well.
hello everyone, i hope your year is going according to plan. if not, start over. or wait an entire year. yr choice.
around here, we are looking forward to the heavy manners gig, which is this weekend, at the elks lodge in ann arbor. if you are local, you should go. all of the money goes to the 826 foundation, which was started by Dave Eggers, the guy behind Mcsweenys and one of the writers of the new Where the Wild Things Are film (directed by spike jonze)...so come, it should be great. as you can see below, we have done a slight redesign to the page, the archive has been bulked up and almost all posts are up there. take a look if you want. below is a picture of my desk. its messy....
