it was to our home town, traverse city michigan. the place has changed, for the better. it is one of few places i have been in the last year that seem to be progressing in a year of squalor and shite. i cant wait for obama. hes the real deal. he will save us from this fucked up place we call the u.s.a... andras for obama! do you see that nice graphic.....click to make larger...
also, recently i have been looking at this interesting streaming technology... so yes, maybe we will have some concerts or something like that one day..... do i hear risky business-esque dj party???

hello all
i just wanted to extend a firm handshake to whoever the 20 or so that downloaded the full andras catalog. it takes effort to do it. we live in a climate of "ill take that, that, and that, ohhhhh and that....etc..." and it all happening in a few seconds. we arent like that. we dont run on apple servers. anyway, thank you very much for morally supporting our music. thats all we ask for.
s.
hi all.
a little slow around andras right now, however things will be ramping up soon enough. things on the horizion...
new ep.
new collaboration.
new visual accompaniment.
new concerts.
so there.
we arent just sitting on our laurels.

helium dreams.
so, over the weekend, trevor and dan came over and we found this crazy cd in a parking lot in the middle of the night.
it is the weirdest thing i have ever heard and the 3 of us talked about the repercussions of putting this on andras, and we all decided that it would be ok, seeing that it wouldnt do anything but promote their music. if you know who this is, let us know, we would like to talk. we mixed some ouf our art with stuff we found in the cd case. here you go.....

weekend.
hek.
helo.
etc.
so, this weekend i finished up recording the band tokyo morose. it proved to be a lot of fun once again. very little stress, which is usually overabundant in times of making definitive songs. they were good sports with my goofball antics and strange effects. in other news i got a new pedal which is amazing. it is made by a guy in minnesota and the company is named zvex. the aforementioned guy is named zachary vex. what a titular company!!! the pedal is a sequenced band-pass. basically, it's a wah pedal. i love it and i think you will be hearing zvex stuff on andras for a long time to come.
i have a few projects i will be beginning shortly and one pretty cool announcement... stay tuned...
06/16/2008.
hello young turks.
so, helo. how are you? i hope you are well. i see via our stats that our older material is being downloaded quiet a bit lately. thank you for listening. its nice to see that people just dont download the last thing released. i have recently received a few requests for physical copies of andras albums. i will be making a custom run of a few albums this week. if you are at all interested in purchasing any of these for a relatively cheap price, let me know soon, and i can run up copies specifically for you. what other label does that??!?!? trust me, you will like them. let me know......
in other news, i have been trying to break the ann arbor art world by finagling them to look at my work. no success. if you are not a student in this town, its basically like being blacklisted. you have to slip through the door like a greased thief, yeah.
well, here is this. kims parents new dog, she stayed with us for a night...millie. and a pic of another friend...

wowzies.
hi.
well, what have you missed??? not much.
we have a new bit for you. its a 2 song single dropped out of nowhere. yes? ha. maybe it was secret.
actually, the main song, yellowcake, was composed for kim's birthday, which was last month.
the second piece, firstsounds, was sampled from the first time kim and i ever made art together. i remember vividly my father knocking on the door, due to too much white noise resonating through the house. i believe kim was operating that...
the main piece is played around our place a lot, at least in my head, so, i now want to release it. and its our first release in 24 bit resolution. audiophiles rejoice.
so here it is.
![]()
yellowcake: recorded in one take. processed vocals, and handmade music box.
firstsounds: outdoor samples from 2006, processed shortwave radio and dulcimer.
in other news, two people actually downloaded the andras catalog! all 500 megabytes. wow! well, whoever they might be, thank you. i thought that would be a more popular way to download us, but, i guess it isnt. in whatever way you get our stuff, thank you for your support.

robert rauschenberg has died.
i am quite saddened to hear that my favorite artist has died. robert rauschenberg died yesterday of heart failure at the age of 82.
he is the only artist to make me feel overwhelmed enough to cry, as i did when i saw his piece almanac at the tate art gallery in liverpool in 2005. i was taken back by its size and depth and it filled me with an inspiration i cant compare to any other moment in my life. robert rauschenberg inspired me to deviate from normality, as university art classes are abound with. he is also the only artist i have ever been interested in enough to follow their work, even though most of his stuff took place before my mother was even a thought. i feel lucky to have been alive at the same time as him, as we saw his art bloom with brilliance with each added year.
the piece below is one i created during my time at university, surrounded by all the materials that makes great art.

soundtracks for cities
hi all. just your weekly andras update.
i sent threatening e-mails to internet music critics saying they should at listen to us. maybe violence will work. har.
nels cline is playing in ann arbor. this is genius. hes a genius. hes my hero. people say that alot: "i love this guy, my hero, etc." but im serious. he is easily the most inspiring person i have ever heard put to tape. period. no one tops nels in my book. im sure that will be like that forever. i cant wait!
eric and i are speaking again. not that there was tension. he just moved. thats a hard thing to do. i commend him for that. ann arbor to brooklyn cant be the easiest of transitions. anyway, we might have something going on musically soon enough.
today, i am making my way over to the city of the grand rapids. i will be recording/consoling/worsening the band tokyo morose. the band consists of a trio of fine musicians and i cant wait to mic them up.
2 words.
good bye.

hi all.
74 times. thats how many times miracle baby has been downloaded this month. that makes it close to 150 times overall. which is great. more than any other record we have done. it has gotten me thinking about how maybe we need to put something like this out in 12".........
good grand rapids friend, mr. timothy warren released his new e.p. today, sitzmachine.
i am almost done listening to it as a write this and only have good things to say about it. you should download it here. it was released by square root this morning, making it their 10th release. congrats guys! your now in the double digits! as with us, its all downhill from there....
i havent been concentrating too much on actual music making the last 2 weeks or so. i have been mainly building machines. so far i have built about 6. most do similar things and most have alot of wood used in them. let me just say, one projct contains over 30 pots and lots of blinking stuff... most of it is documented on our flickr page. which is here.....
even though i have taken a brief respite from guitar mashing/synthwankin', i am still quite busy with ideas. i probably write 5 ideas a day. i have no filters, so all are usually released......ugggg.....
that is all,..e.e;;s.s'''''w///s/s/s//////////////

helo., we arent dead.
so, helo.
how is everyone? all three of us. yes? no? nein? oui? ja?
ok, anyway. we are still here. obviously. we arent going anywhere.
kim and i had a good weekend. we went skateboarding, kim was given flowers for being a great graphic designer for work, and i recorded some new material. funs. also we found that we get free cable tele. so no more re-runs of bad syndicated shows.
"here i come discovery channel, teach me about blue collar jobs, as you exclusively do now!!!"
here are some pictures. by the way.... we have a flickr page. we fill it often. so go there for international comments about hofner tuners, snarky friends dropping ryan adams, and talking about "skatedongz".. hehehe.
andras 014 should be out sometime soon. when you ask? when its done. we work like apple. making everything else obsolete every 15 minutes.....
see you.
we know where you are at all times. we know where you live

oh hi there.
hi.

s.
4/2/2008
ouch, somebody got their fingers burned: me.
so, i check this synth blog called matrixsynth twice a day.
once a month i update our flickr page. that was today.
after getting home after a tall glass of water with some co-workers, i turn on my macbook, and low and behold, i see a piece of my art on my favorite blog. i see my best friends' fucking scalp with the words, "miracle baby" next to them.
kind of a shock, i must say. why is this on there?! why is trevor playing a left handed guitar? why is someone analyzing what synths are in our studio? where is that dry ice factory? where am i? how often does this guy search for buchla on flickr? whats a left handed ms-20 doing in someones closet?!!??!?!!
well, many of these questions can be quelled in one simple answer.
i cheated. kind of. sheer laziness would be more appropriate.
i grabbed many photos, recently uploaded, and threw a whole bunch of words i like in there. i.e. france, pants, lance, buchla, fuchla, manzera, etc....
maybe this unscrupulous method of getting hits works after all. but, i am a bad man. dont follow in these muddy boot-steps, as only i will suffer, and you will make my game look petty and overall very very stupid...
i dont own a buchla, i only admire them. however i have received an e-mail from donald. that is all. goodnight! (laff all the way to the bankzzzz)
photo of felony: which i call buchlaoops.

explorations, interviews and xxl wanting me on the cover.
well, im listening to the new squareroot release today. its by cantilever, who you may know as daniel thomas streeting. let me tell you, its amazing. its better than new order. any of it. yep. these guys are absurdly creative. the top talent of michigan in my opinion.
download it here. just click already...
download conifer rock's newest effort here... which is also amazing.
anyway, in andras news, we are working on a ton of things for the summer / autumn. some are yet to be recorded (pff, whats new???), others are almost done mixing. well, how about that. just a hint.... by the end of the fall, we will be in the a020's. how about that german engineering?

sean "how about that space shuttle landing at night!!!1" patrick.

the weekend.
its 26 degrees out now. it should be warmer.
oh well.
the weekend was great. my parents came down to visit from up north.
we went to some nice restaurants which kim and i cant afford. very good indeed.
we also saw no country for old men, which i liked very much so, (did anton die after the wreck? who exactly killed lewellen? and the guys with the bodies on the truck bed was allowed to drive away?) and it wont escape from my memory banks.
im looking forward to riding my bike to work. and moped. hopefully that will come by the beginning of the next month. as it should.
oh and also, my good pal trevor edmonds, of spectral mornings, conifer rock, and miracle baby, has released his newest creation over at the square root records website. i got a copy a few weeks ago, and i have to say its great. the ideas are really simple, and the instrumentation is sparse, which makes it an interesting release for square root.
sean "what should i do now???" patrick.
03/09/2008.
miracle baby. yeah.
hi.
this weekend, my good friend trevor edmonds came to town for the weekend. this trip was not just for fun though, it was for business. it was business time. we got to work, finalizing ideas that we have had musically for a while. we recorded them at high fervor, and it is now available for speedy download. click on the naked woman, let us know what you think.

great music, friends, trip, and guitar: this weekend.
on saturday, kim and i headed over to lansing to see our friends, tokyo morose play a show at the gone wired cafe. it was also trevor, the grand multi-instrumentalist's, first trip to elderlys guitar shop. i think his mind was blown. i got a 12 string. a 1970 b-25-12. its wonderful. im so glad i now own a 12 string. it's already being put to work in the studio, recording new tracks for a new project.
anyway, the show was wonderful. it made me envious that i dont have a band that i can play with at coffee shops. all of the band's songs were beautiful and it didnt help that they are all really nice people. the place was packed too, another thing to make someone mildly envious. anyway, enjoy the pics.

rent/norent.
hi all.
off to the left side, you may see a picture of warren zimostrad playing a funky bass. if you do, you should click on it and watch the 24 minute film i put together of the latest house show, curated by him and trevor edmonds. its a good bit of fun. the last performance in the film (full performance) is tokyo morose. they are playing a show tomorrow, and im sure all that are reading this already know that.
see you.
s.
02/26/2008.
the show went well.
hi all.
take a gander at the new shorelines off to the side. its not functional yet. soon enough though.
all of the andras recordings are now available for download from the front page. check out the andras catalog too. maybe there are some surprises inside.....

upcoming show/shooting/recording/wankin'.
hi all.
the grand rapids label, squareroot records has invited me back to play at the greenfield ave. bandshell (houseshow)
anyway, it should be fun. here is a pic of me on a cold beach with a synth. by dan streeting.
see you in cold, wide world.

patience.
i wish the snow fell softer
the kind of speed matched by only locomotives.
and dark transistors, moving knowledge from place to place
i wish i could move
with only slow conviction
the way the author did
i miss michael and his presence
from time to time
the sunsets so softly
as it might from manhattan skylights
i wish we could move so softly
as a light-box undeterred could/can/would.

act III: how to get kicked by ira glass, or, how i learned to adore cardigans.
hello people.
busy weekend. kim and i went to ikea, guitar center, and to borders to meet ira glass. he did a nice q & a then signed his new "this american life: season 1" dvd (which is funny as hell). i asked him to vandalize the cover, drawing a mustache and other accouterments. he laughed and obliged. what a great guy. we gave him a copy of andras' 11th release, Loop I. great fun weekend...

02/06/2008.
its raining today.
eric has moved. hes now in new york. and appears to be opening a storefront for andras in the boot of his car. wait. no car. duffel bag.
i made a paper synth last night. this is it.
and a little nagra. we put them here.

shake it like yo ass: theremin woes..
helo all.
this weekend was spent, partially, making a photo-theremin.
for those who arent familiar with this technology, it is a small noise maker that uses light instead of proximity as its sensing data. so, more light in one sensor, higher frequency, less light in the other, less volume. the whole project cost about 3 dollars, seeing that i usually carry around spare resistors along with errant guitar picks.
here is a clip of me playing hebrew melody no. 4 by schoven blacenfirth.
maybe.

see you skunkworks.

26/01/2008.
(i fly like paper planes, if you catch me at the border..)
m.i.a... wow. have you heard this? i am a bit late on this "grime bus". wow. i have been listening to more stuff from the arts and crafts label too. more goodness.
so, eric is moving to new york next week. so that will make andras a 2 office venture.
im sure he will be hitting up the strange williamsburg record shops with our swag soon enough.
musically speaking, i am still building little noise makers, as making music is slow at the moment, after the temporary rush of the last e.p., slow gear.
ok. im going to the bank now. going to try for a house loan... eeek.

16/01/2008.
belarus and portugal.
so since the beginning of andras, we have had stuff to download.
a few days ago, we finally reached over 5 gigs of materials downloaded from our site. pretty cool! thanks for listening/looking/scoffing...
here is some art of me that our friend, dan streeting made. what he will do with it, i have no idea....

10/01/2008.
slow gear released.
hi all. the new release is now available via shorelines. its all free.
heres the recap:
01. nelsy sortie.
a song recorded a few weeks ago. after complaining about my neck for days, i decided to give myself a workout by playing the drums. it worked. i think my mother said it best,
"is that you or someone famous?" i think that sums it up. har.
02. jasper johns.
bullseye! seven violin parts later, i wonder why my neighbours hate me. is this the most punk i have ever gotten?
03. studied nature in school.
well, back to the soft stuff. thats where the money is anyway. always remember: moms love coldplay. rooted in a. theslowgear.
04. julius schulman and the leopard print rug.
a while back i tried lying to eric. i devised a fictitious author and wrote a short story. this was its title. eric knew right away it was a lie. i should run for congress. nevertheless, the music has nothing to do with the title, naturally.
elapsed time: 9:49
enjoy. remember its free. why not give it a shot? click here.
